Bucket List Triathlon – at Nimbus Flat, Lake Natoma

The Bucket List Triathlon is a brand new event taking place at Nimbus Flat, Lake Natoma with two distances: a Sprint and Super Sprint Triathlon, designed to provide a fun race experience for everyone. Finish the Bucket List Triathlon and scratch it off your Bucket List! Included with your entry fee is a Triathlon Gear bucket, courtesy of Home Depot and Total Body Fitness, along with a Bucket List Triathlon tech-tee shirt and athlete breakfast.

Start Times:

  • Bucket List Super Sprint Triathlon: 8 am
  • Bucket List Triathlon: 9 am

Distances:

  • Bucket List Triathlon Distance: Swim 500 yards – Bike 6.5 miles – Run 3 miles
  • Bucket List Super Sprint Triathlon Distance: Swim 200 yards – Bike 6.5 miles – Run 1 mile

Swim – A 200 yard or 500 yard swim in Lake Natoma.Water temperature will be in the low-mid 60’s. The course will be a counter clockwise rectangle course marked by swim buoys and monitored by TBF Water Safety kayakers.

Bike – The same 6.5 mile bike course along Folsom Blvd and the bike trail will serve both distance Triathlons. The course will exit the State Park via the bike trail overpass to Folsom Blvd. The course will turn left on Folsom Blvd and follow Folsom Blvd until Parkshore Drive. The course will turn left on Parkshore Drive and connect with the bike trail. The course will turn left on the bike trail and return to Nimbus Flat at Lake Natoma. Folsom Blvd will be monitored by TBF Road Safety Team and the Folsom Police Department. The bike trail will be monitored by TBF Road Safety Team and State Park Rangers.

Run – A 3-mile out and back run course for the longer race will be on the bike trail around CSUS Aquatic Center and over the Hazel Bridge. The course will turn right on the bike trail to the turn-around just past the Lake Natoma Dam. The finish line is lake front at Nimbus Flat. Aid Stations will be available at mile one and mile two with water FLUID Electrolyte Performance drink and Clif Shot energy gels.

The 1-mile run course for the shorter race leaves transition and runs on crushed granite path trails and single track trails combined with a little pavement before the aid station at the half-way point and then returns on similar terrain. ALL athletes for both races must wear their race number on the front of their body during the run and have it when crossing the finish line.

Transition Area

The Transition area will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.

Aid Stations

Aid stations will be located in the transition area and at miles 1, 2.5 and 3 on the run course, serving cold water, CLIF Gel Shots, and FLUID Electrolyte beverage.

Equipment

Expected water temperature for Lake Natoma will be 62-65 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike at all times. Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Listening devices of any kind: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc… are not allowed.

First place Overall Male and Female in the Bucket List Triathlon will receive Overall Champion Awards. There will be awards five deep in each five-year age group for the Bucket List Triathlon. Relay Team awards will be for the Top three teams in each Division of Male, Female and Coed.

Refund and transfer policy

TBF Racing has a no refund policy on all of our events. A refund requested prior to race week will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus a $25 processing fee. Credits are not given during race week. Transfers are allowed from one TBF Racing event to another within a one-year time frame. There is a $25 transfer fee. Transfers are not allowed during race week. ALL TBF Racing events are held rain or shine.

Competitor Goodies

Included for each competitor is a Bucket List Triathlon tech-tee race shirt, Bucket List Tri Bucket, XTERRA swim cap, athlete goody bag with CLIF Bar, RedBull and Emerald Nuts product samples.

Post Race Athlete Food

Included for each competitor is a post race meal of hot pasta, salad, fruit, cookies and beverage.

Training and Coaching:

TBF Training provides group workouts and coaching for the sport of Triathlon along with individual Multi-sport Coaching and Personal Training.

Race for FREE program

Our Race for FREE Athlete Volunteer Program offers a chance to get involved with multi-sport events, have fun, and earn a $40 TBF Racing Volunteer voucher good towards entry fees at any of our events this year. Each volunteer shift is 4 hours. We ask volunteers to reserve a volunteer position at any of our events by emailing volunteersi@totalbodyfitness.com as our volunteer positions will fill up quickly.

If you are a member of a Triathlon Club that has 10 or more athletes racing with TBF Racing we can provide Reserved bike racks in the transition area for your club, have your club set up a tent in the expo/athlete area, and hang your banners at the event. To take advantage of this program, TRI Clubs must send the list of 10 or more pre-registered athletes to Bill@totalbodyfitness.com 7-10 days prior to the race.
