The Folsom Lake International Triathlon, Super Sprint Triathlon & Aquabike

The Folsom Lake International Triathlon is in its sixth year. The race is at beautiful Granite Beach, Folsom Lake, featuring a lake swim, one lap road bike, and scenic trail run.

Back this year: the Folsom Lake Super Sprint Triathlon with a 400 yd swim-6.5 mile bike-2 mile run course, plus a 1.5K Open Water Swim (priced without race t-shirt). Included for each competitor is a Folsom Lake Triathlon tech-tee race shirt, swim cap, athlete goody bag plus hot post race meal and free athlete massage.

First place Male and Female in the Folsom Lake International Triathlon will receive Overall Champion Awards. There will be awards five deep in each five-year age group and Relay Team awards for the Top team in each Division of Male, Female and Coed.

First place Male and Female in the Folsom Lake Super Sprint Triathlon will receive Overall Champion Awards. There will be awards five deep in each ten-year age groups.

The Aqua Bike will have awards for the top three male and female overall finishers.

The Folsom Lake International Triathlon, Super Sprint Triathlon and Aqua Bike will all be USAT Sanctioned, requiring the purchase of a $15 one-day license with USAT, or the holding of an annual membership card with USAT.

Start Times:

  • Folsom Lake Super Sprint Triathlon – 7 am
  • Folsom Lake International Triathlon – 8 am
  • Aquabike & OW Swim – 8:12 am

Distances:

  • Folsom Lake Super Sprint Triathlon – 400 yd swim-6.5 mi bike-2 mi run.
  • Folsom Lake International Triathlon – 1.5K swim-40K bike-10K run
  • Aqua-Bike – 1.5K swim-40K bike
  • Open Water Swim – 1.5K

Relay Teams:

  • Relay Teams consist of one swimmer, one cyclist and one runner. Entry fee includes three race shirts, goody bags and post race meals. Awards will be first overall in Male, Female and Coed division for Folsom Lake International Triathlon.

Swim – The race starts from Granite Beach in Folsom Lake with a 1.5K swim from the beach area. The swim course will be a triangular course marked by the large white triangular buoys. Water temperature should be between 64-68 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended. The swim will exit the lake and head up the beach to the transition area located in the parking area.

Bike – The 40K bike course will exit the State Park and travel on local roads through Placer County. Course maps will be available on race morning at Registration. The Bike course will NOT have an aid station. Water and electrolyte beverage, along with energy gels will be available in the transition area.

Run – The run course has a combination of single track, pavement and fire road. The run will head south from Granite Beach along the lake and then transition to single track for a 1/4 mile. Next is a 1/2 mile pavement section. Just past mile one the run course turns left on the pavement toward the lake and then turns right on single track. A 1/4 mile later the run turns left on a dirt road (Pioneer Express Trail) toward Beals Point. There is a out/back section on the dirt road for a 1/2 mile past Mooney Ridge. After the out/back section the course has a 3/4 mile single track loop and returns along the out/back section to Mooney Ridge where the course climbs on single track up to the water tower. The course descends the water tower and finishes the final mile on single track.

Transition Area

The Transition area will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.

Aid Stations

Aid stations will be located in the transition area and at miles 1, 2, 3 and 5 on the run course, serving cold water, CLIF Gel Shots, and Electrolyte beverage.

Equipment

Expected water temperature for Folsom Lake will be 54-62 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike at all times. Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Listening devices of any kind: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc… are not allowed.

Athlete packets may be picked up on race morning at the race venue from 6 til 8 am.

Folsom Lake International Triathlon

Refund and transfer policy

TBF Racing has a no refund policy on all of our events. A refund requested prior to race week will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus a $25 processing fee. Credits are not given during race week. Transfers are allowed from one TBF Racing event to another within a one-year time frame. There is a $25 transfer fee. Transfers are not allowed during race week. ALL TBF Racing events are held rain or shine.

Competitor Goodies

Included for each competitor is an Folsom Lake Triathlon tech-tee race shirt,  XTERRA swim cap, athlete goody bag with CLIF Bar, RedBull and Emerald Nuts product samples.

Post Race Athlete Food

Included for each competitor is a post race meal of hot pasta with salad, fruit, cookies and beverage.

Training and Coaching:

TBF Training provides group workouts and coaching for the sport of Triathlon along with individual Multi-sport Coaching and Personal Training.

Race for FREE program

Our Race for FREE Athlete Volunteer Program offers a chance to get involved with multi-sport events, have fun, and earn a $40 TBF Racing Volunteer voucher good towards entry fees at any of our events this year. Each volunteer shift is 4 hours. We ask volunteers to reserve a volunteer position at any of our events by emailing Teri@totalbodyfitness.com as our volunteer positions will fill up quickly.
