The Happy Kids Duathlon race features a 1 mile run – 3 mile road bike – 1 mile run course with five races to choose from. This race offers young athletes a chance to run and bike together in one-fun-race! The 1 mile first run begins the race followed by a 3 mile road bike on roads closed to traffic and the final run is 1 mile on soft crushed granite and sand paths. This is a great early-season race for triathletes.
This will be the fourth of our Five-Race Happy Kids 5-Mile Series (February 11, February 25, March 11, April 1, May 14) for which we will have Series Champions in each 2-year age group (5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14). To be eligible for the Series Championship athletes must race in at least four of the five events. Athletes racing in all Five Happy Kids 5-Mile Duathlons will receive a Series Finisher Medal.

Run – The 1 mile run course will run on granite paths for a short loop before returning to the Transition Area where the bikes are set up. Run Map
Bike – The bike course is course located entirely within the park on roads closed to traffic. It will exit the parking lot area at Granite Beach, then complete a 3 mile loop within the park. Bike Map
Run – The 1 mile run will run on granite paths, single track trails, with an aid station at the start of the run and the half way point.
The Transition area will be on a first-come basis. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.
Aid stations will be located in the transition area and at mile one on the run course, serving cold water and FLUID Electrolyte beverage.
Listening devices of any kind: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc…are not allowed on the run or bike courses. Helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike at all times. Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line.
Packets may also be picked up race morning at race venue from 6:30am til 8 am.

For the Happy Kids 5-Mile Duathlon there will be 2-year age groups for boys and girls 5 to 14 years old. These age groups will be: 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14. Awards will be presented three-deep in each 2-year age group.
For the Five-Race Series, athletes racing in at least four of the five events will be eligible for Series Championship Awards. Athletes changing age groups during the Series will finish the Series in their earlier age group. Athletes racing in all Five Happy Kids 5-Mile Duathlons will receive a Series Finisher Medal.

Refund and transfer policy
TBF Racing has a no refund policy on all of our events. A refund requested prior to race week will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus a $25 processing fee. Credits are not given during race week. Transfers are allowed from one TBF Racing event to another within a one-year time frame. There is a $25 transfer fee. Transfers are not allowed during race week. ALL TBF Racing events are held rain or shine.
Included for each competitor is a custom Kids 5-Mile Duathlon race shirt and athlete goody bag with CLIF Bar, Emerald Nuts, and other product samples. Included for each competitor is a post race meal of hot soup or chili with fruit, cookies and beverage.

TBF Training provides group workouts and coaching for the sport of Triathlon along with individual Multi-sport Coaching and Personal Training.
Race for FREE program
Our Race for FREE Athlete Volunteer Program offers a chance to get involved with multi-sport events, have fun, and earn a $40 TBF Racing Volunteer voucher good towards entry fees at any of our events this year. Each volunteer shift is 4 hours. We ask volunteers to reserve a volunteer position at any of our events by emailing Teri@totalbodyfitness.com as our volunteer positions will fill up quickly.

Granite Bay State Park on Folsom lake is located at the end of Douglas Blvd, 5-6 miles East of I-80. Turn right at the third stop sign after entering the park for the Granite Beach parking lot. There is a $12 vehicle charge for day-use or $125 for an annual pass. Contact phone: 916 988 0205.
