MTB Sprint Triathlon

The MTB Sprint Triathlon is a great entry-level off-road Triathlon with a 400 yd swim, 8-mile mtb and a 2-mile trail run. Awards, raffle prizes, hot post race food, and a custom finisher souvenir make this a fun-filled event! MTB Sprint Triathlon Commemorative Race shirts are available for sale when pre-ordered by March 17th for $15.

The MTB Sprint Triathlon will feature a 400 yard swim with one mass start. Water temp will be 58-65 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended. The bike will have a 8-mile mtb course on 1-lap single-track trails around the lake. The course has a few climbs and descents. All levels of riders will enjoy the course. The 2-mile run course is on single-track trails along the lakeshore. The out and back course has 1 aid station that will be stocked with water, electrolyte drink and gel.

Relay Teams

Relay Teams for The MTB Sprint Triathlon consist of one swimmer, one cyclist and one runner. The entry fee for relay teams  includes three race shirts, athlete goody bags and post race meals. Awards for Relay Teams will be first overall in Male, Female and Coed divisions.

Distances

  • Swim 400 yards – Bike 8 miles – Run 2 miles

Swim – The race starts with a 400 yard swim in Folsom Lake, water temperature around 58 degrees. Wetsuits are permitted for all athletes.

Bike – The bike will have a 8-mile mtb course on 1-lap single-track trails around the lake. The course has a few climbs and descents. All levels of riders will enjoy the course.

Run – The 2-mile run has a mix of trails and roads. There will be three aid stations with water and electrolyte beverage, plus energy gels on the run course. One at mile 1, one at the turn-around point on the run course, and one at mile 2. ALL athletes must wear their race number on the front of their body during the run and have it when crossing the finish line. View run course map

Transition Area

The Transition area will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.

Aid Stations

Aid stations will be located in the transition area and at mile one and two on the run course, serving cold water, CLIF Gel Shots, and FLUID Electrolyte beverage.

Equipment

Expected water temperature for Folsom Lake will be 56-62 degrees. Wetsuits are strongly recommended. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike at all times. Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Listening devices of any kind: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc…are not allowed.


Packet Pickup

Packet pick-up will be available at the race site on race morning from 7 am to 8 am.

There will be a first place overall award for the top male and female individual in The MTB Sprint Triathlon. Awards will be given to the top three athletes in 10-year age groups beginning with 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and ending with 70+ for male and female individuals.

Refund and transfer policy

TBF Racing has a no refund policy on all of our events. A refund requested prior to race week will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus a $25 processing fee. Credits are not given during race week. Transfers are allowed from one TBF Racing event to another within a one-year time frame. There is a $25 transfer fee. Transfers are not allowed during race week. ALL TBF Racing events are held rain or shine.

Race for FREE program

Our Race for FREE Athlete Volunteer Program offers a chance to get involved with multi-sport events, have fun, and earn a $40 TBF Racing Volunteer voucher good towards entry fees at any of our events this year. Each volunteer shift is 4 hours. We ask volunteers to reserve a volunteer position at any of our events by emailing volunteersi@totalbodyfitness.com as our volunteer positions will fill up quickly.

Granite Bay State Park on Folsom lake is located at the end of Douglas Blvd, 5-6 miles East of I-80. Turn right at the third stop sign after entering the park for the Granite Beach parking lot. There is a $12 vehicle charge for day-use or $125 for an annual pass. Contact phone: 916 988 0205.
