The Good Dog-Dirty Dog 5K

This will be the fifth year for the Good Dog and Dirty Dog 5K Walk and Run. This event is for walkers, runners, and their dogs! We are excited to offer this event for athletes and their dogs and hope everyone has a fun time.

The Good Dog 5K Walk

Starts at 8:05 am at the south end of the Granite Beach parking area at Folsom Lake SRA. All athletes and dogs MUST Walk the entire 5K course. The course will have one aid station at the half way point for both walkers and their dogs. Additional dogs can be signed up to accompany the walker and dog #1 for a fee of $10 per dog. Each additional dog will receive a Dog tag and Doggie-goody bag.

The Dirty Dog 5K Run

Starts at 8:00 am at the south end of the Granite Beach parking area at Folsom Lake SRA. Athletes and their dogs MUST run safely and without entangling other dogs. The course will have one aid station at the half way point for both runners and their dogs.

All Good Dog Walkers, Dirty Dog Runners and their Dogs will receive a Finisher Medal and Dog tag at the finish line. Also included for all competitors is a custom Good Dog/Dirty Dog tech-tee race shirt, a goody bag with treats for both owners and dogs, and a post-race meal.

We will have a ‘Runner only – No Dog’ category with individual awards to the top male and female runners in this category.

Start Times:

  • The Good Dog 5K Run: 8:00 am
  • The Dirty Dog 5K Walk: 8:05 am

  • The Good Dog 5K Walk will feature wide smooth crushed granite paths along the shore of Folsom Lake along with a mix of pavement and single track trails.
  • The Dirty Dog 5K Run will feature similar conditions: wide shaded paths, a little bit of pavement and some single track trails under old oak trees.

Aid Stations

Aid stations will be located on the course at the half way point: mile 1.5 on each course, with the aid stations each serving cold water, Electrolyte beverage, and CLIF Shot energy gels for athletes as well as water for the dogs.


Listening devices: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc… are NOT allowed during the Good Dog – Dirty Dog 5K. Runners and walkers must exercise caution when crossing any roads and must pay attention at all times when running or walking on the trails with their dogs.

All finishers and their Dogs will receive a Finisher Medal and Dog tag at the finish line.

Awards will be presented as follows:

First, second, and third place in each of three divisions for the Dirty Dog 5K Run will each receive an award:

  • Small Dog (up to 25 lbs)
  • Medium Dog (26 to 60 lbs)
  • Large Dog (61 to 99 lbs)
  • Extra Large Dog (100 to 140 lbs)

Refund and transfer policy

TBF Racing has a no refund policy on all of our events. A refund requested prior to race week will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus a $25 processing fee. Credits are not given during race week. Transfers are allowed from one TBF Racing event to another within a one-year time frame. There is a $25 transfer fee. Transfers are not allowed during race week. ALL TBF Racing events are held rain or shine.

Competitor Goodies

Included for each competitor is a Good Dog – Dirty Dog custom tech-tee race shirt, athlete and doggy goody bag with CLIF Bar, Emerald Nuts, and other product samples, custom Finisher Medal and Dog Tag for each athlete and dog, plus post race food and refreshments.

Post Race Athlete Food

Included for each competitor is a post race meal along with beverage as well as a snack and water for your dog.

Training and Coaching:

TBF Training provides group workouts and coaching for the sport of Triathlon along with individual Multi-sport Coaching and Personal Training.

Race for FREE program

Our Race for FREE Athlete Volunteer Program offers a chance to get involved with multi-sport events, have fun, and earn a $40 TBF Racing Volunteer voucher good towards entry fees at any of our events this year. Each volunteer shift is 4 hours. We ask volunteers to reserve a volunteer position at any of our events by emailing as our volunteer positions will fill up quickly.

Granite Bay State Park on Folsom lake is located at the end of Douglas Blvd, 5-6 miles East of I-80. Turn right at the third stop sign after entering the park for the Granite Beach parking lot. There is a $12 vehicle charge for day-use or $125 for an annual pass. Contact phone: 916 988 0205.
