The XTERRA Real MTB Triathlon

Race with the Best of the West at the TBF XTERRA Real Mountain Bike Triathlon as part of the 2018 XTERRA America Tour. Included with your race entry is a custom tech-tee race shirt, athlete goody bag, post race hot meal, raffle prizes and awards five-deep in each age group.

The race starts with a half-mile swim in Folsom Lake, water temperature around 60 degrees. Wetsuits are permitted for all athletes. The 16-mile bike course on single track trails around the lake is two loops with mixed terrain of single track, downhills, climbs, sand, and packed decomposed granite. The 4-mile run has a mix of trails and roads – along with some fun hills.

Relay Teams for The XTERRA Real Mountain Bike Triathlon consist of one swimmer, one cyclist and one runner. Entry fee includes three race shirts, athlete goody bags and post race meals. Awards for Relay Teams will be first overall in Male, Female and Coed divisions.

Awards for the XTERRA REAL MTB Triathlon will be given FIVE-deep in each five-year age group and division (Clydesdale, Athena and Challenged Athlete divisions). Relay Team awards will be for the Top team in each Division of Male, Female and Coed.Packet pick-up will be available at the race site on race morning from 7 am to 9 am.

Distances

  • Swim .5 miles – Bike 16 miles – Run 4 miles

Swim – The race starts with a half-mile swim in Folsom Lake, water temperature around 60 degrees. Wetsuits are permitted for all athletes.

Run – The 4-mile run has a mix of trails and roads – along with some fun hills. There will be three aid stations with water and Electrolyte Beverage, plus energy gels on the run course. One at mile 1, one at the turn-around point on the run course, and one at mile 2. ALL athletes must wear their race number on the front of their body during the run and have it when crossing the finish line.

Transition Area

The Transition area will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.

Aid Stations

Aid stations will be located in the transition area and at mile one and two on the run course, serving cold water, energy gel, and Electrolyte beverage.

Equipment

Expected water temperature for Folsom Lake will be 56-62 degrees. Wetsuits are strongly recommended. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike at all times. Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Listening devices of any kind: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc…are not allowed.

Race packets will be available race morning from 7:00am to 9:00 am at the race site.

Refund and transfer policy

TBF Racing has a no refund policy on all of our events. A refund requested prior to race week will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus a $25 processing fee. Credits are not given during race week. Transfers are allowed from one TBF Racing event to another within a one-year time frame. There is a $25 transfer fee. Transfers are not allowed during race week. ALL TBF Racing events are held rain or shine.

Included with your race entry is a custom tech-tee race shirt, athlete goody bag, post race hot meal, raffle prizes and awards five-deep in each age group.

Post Race Athlete Food

Included for each competitor is a post race meal of hot pasta with salad, fruit, cookies and beverage.

Training and Coaching:

TBF Training will be conducting Mountain Bike Camps that will focus on advancing your riding skills and confidence specifically for the XTERRA Real MTB Triathlon. Each five-hour clinic is only $60 with more information at: www.tbftraining.com.

Race for FREE program

Our Race for FREE Athlete Volunteer Program offers a chance to get involved with multi-sport events, have fun, and earn a $40 TBF Racing Volunteer voucher good towards entry fees at any of our events this year. Each volunteer shift is 4 hours. We ask volunteers to reserve a volunteer position at any of our events by emailing Teri@totalbodyfitness.com as our volunteer positions will fill up quickly.

Granite Bay State Park on Folsom lake is located at the end of Douglas Blvd, 5-6 miles East of I-80. Turn right at the third stop sign after entering the park for the Granite Beach parking lot. There is a $12 vehicle charge for day-use or $125 for an annual pass. Contact phone: 916 988 0205.
