The Great Auburn Epic Race

Sunday, April 5, 2020 | Auburn State Recreation Area – Auburn, California

This race will feature 4 timed Cross Country Stages on the best trails in Auburn!

Parking will be available right off I-80 in Auburn in the Placer County parking lot behind Raley’s. The race will start with a 4.5 mile transfer along Foresthill Road including a crossing of the Foresthill Bridge – the highest bridge in California at 730 feet. Stage 1 is on smooth single track on the Foresthill Divide Loop from Grizzly Bear House to Drivers Flat. Stage 2 features 4 more miles on the Foresthill Divide Trail and then 3.5 miles of amazing flowy, twisty turns and switchbacks of the Connector Trail, where you will be treated to amazing canyon views above Lake Clementine.

The third stage is Culvert Trail – a flow trail with banks, berms, jumps and a tunnel under Foresthill Road. The fourth and final stage is the Confluence Trail from Mammoth Bar OHV along the Middle Fork of the American River to the confluence where the middle fork meets the north fork. Pedal or shuttle back to the parking.

Timing

  • All stages will be Time Trial Starts – 30 seconds between riders.
  • Professional timing and results provided by California Enduro Series.

The race course is 25 miles and includes sections of the Foresthill Divide Trail, Connector, Fuel Break, Culvert and Confluence. There are 4 timed stages totaling 17 miles and 8 miles of transfer stages. CHP will be used for the road crossings on Foresthill and Old Foresthill Roads.

* Open Men – this is a semi-pro category for elite riders racing beyond the Expert level, but not racing professionally.

** Beginner Category – this beginner category is NOT INTENDED FOR NOVICE RIDERS. The courses in the race are advanced level trails. The beginner category is for experience mountain bikers that are very comfortable on advanced terrain –possibly at a slower pace, or possible doing their first race.
